Back when Gabe Newell was hand delivering Steam Decks to a lucky few customers, we learnt that he invests a lot of his time into Final Fantasy 14. This was back in March, and Newell was working on leveling up his White Mage. Unfortunately, an update around the same time made changes to the game's launcher, rendering it unplayable on the Steam Deck. However, the Valve boss can get back to leveling up on the go as the issue has seemingly been fixed.
The patch notes for an update to Proton Experimental reveals that the issues regarding Final Fantasy 14's online launcher have been fixed (thanks, Gaming on Linux). Along with that, fixes have also been put in place for the Turing Test crashing when starting Chapter 4, improved FPS in Street Fighter 5 online matches, and controller support for Mini Ninja.

The update has also made the following games playable on the Steam Deck: Age of Chivalry, Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamer Edition, Saviors of Sapphire Wings/Stranger of Sword City Revisited, Iragon: Prologue, One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4, Atelier Meruru, Warhammer: End Times - Vermintide, Star Wars Episode I Racer, Gary Grigsby's War in the East, Gary Grigsby's War in the West, Beneath a Steel Sky, We Were Here Forever, Cities XXL, Cladun X2, Succubus x Saint, Cursed Armor.
As for some of the more recent games, fixes have been rolled out for Elden Ring crashing during prolonged gameplay, Deathloop crashing after a long period on system suspend, and video playback in Ghostwire: Tokyo and other games using VP8 and VP9 codecs.
While Valve finally fixed a long standing issue regarding Final Fantasy 14, the game devs fixed a long standing issue with the MMO's housing lottery feature.
