Square Enix has announced that two Final Fantasy VII Remake cafes will open in Japan to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the original game's release. FF7's 25th-anniversary celebrations began at the end of January, but Square Enix will be celebrating the occasion throughout the year, along with the 35th anniversary of the Final Fantasy series as a whole.
FF7 is one of Square Enix's most popular games and it has been the focus of a lot of merchandise over the years. Cloud and Sephiroth have been used as the basis for action figures, clothing, and even perfume, providing fans with a multitude of ways to celebrate their love of the game. FF7 Remakehas been used in even more merchandise, with the characters appearing on almost every item imaginable. The fact that FF7 Remake is being turned into a series of games means that the franchise has no end to its merchandising possibilities in the future.

Square Enix promised FF7 Remake news in June, but the anniversary celebrations are kicking off early in Japan. The official Square Enix website (as reported by Famitsu) has announced that two Final Fantasy VII Remake Anniversary cafes will open up at two Square Enix cafe sites, with one in the Artnia Cafe and the other in the Square Enix Cafe, both in Tokyo. These transformations will last from June 11 to July 22, with the menu switching from July 2. The cafes will be fully themed, and will sell candy based on the blue Materia seen in the games, as shown below.
