Final Fantasy Tactics follows Ramza Beoulve, the youngest son of the noble Beoulve family. Following the end of the Fifty Year War, a succession crisis causes a civil war, known as the War of the Lions. Ramza discovers a plot by the church to use magical stones, known as Zodiac Braves, to bring the demonic Lucavi into the world. He is branded a heretic and forced to abandon his old life, as he attempts to stop the Lucavi plot. Meanwhile, Ramza's childhood friend, Delita, is acting out his own plot to rise through the ranks and become the next King of Ivalice.
