Square Enix has revealed that the Final Fantasy XIV Free Trial will resume on February 22, allowing players to experience a huge chunk of the game without needing to spend a cent. TheFree Trial allows players to experience A Realm Reborn and Heavensward, but they will need to pay if they want to see the rest of the FF14 expansions that have released so far.
There are some limitations to theFF14 Free Trial, as the player's level is capped at 60 (Endwalker raised it to 90), they can only carry a maximum of 300,000 Gil, they cannot trade with other players, they cannot join a Free Company, and are restricted from a number of in-game services. Despite this, the Free Trial still offers a ton of content and it's a great introduction to the game as a whole. A Realm Reborn has its slow and repetitive moments (even after a number of quests were cut), but Heavensward is one of the highlights of the game, and it has some of the best story moments in the Final Fantasy franchise.

The release of Endwalker saw a huge increase in server congestion in the game, to the point where Square Enix had to stop selling FF14 for a while, but the Free Trial is set to once again resume this month. The Free Trial was also temporarily suspended throughout the launch of Endwalker. The official Final Fantasy XIV Twitter account has revealed that the trial is set to return on February 22, 2022, allowing users to once again experience the title for free.
