From the addition of motion controls, to more recently VR, Resident Evil 4 has seen numerous ports and re-releases over the years. A group of fans has dedicated themselves to giving Resident Evil 4 a proper HD makeover, and after many years, the project has finally received a trailer and release date.
Most Resident Evil fans will agree that the official HD version of Resident Evil 4 is not as great as it can be. While the title outputs in 1080p, and the game for the most part plays the same, many of the game’s individual components weren’t improved that well. It has been the mission of modder Albert Marin and some others to give the game the remastering it should have originally gotten, starting the Resident Evil 4 HD Project back in 2014. Eight years later and it seems like the mod is officially ready for release.
Fans Improving Resident Evil 4 HD Edition on PC
Marin has released the official final trailer for Resident Evil 4 HD Project, and the results speak for themselves. In the 5-minute trailer, Marin calls attention to the variety of improvements their mod makes for the game. Some of these updates include HD remasters of “every single texture” in the game and UI, enhanced lighting effects, and “thousands of 3D model revisions.” The mod will be available for download from the main Resident Evil 4 HD Project website on February 2.
Not only does the mod improve the campaign, but also the litany of bonus content featured in Resident Evil 4 as well. Both side campaigns starring Ada Wong—Assignment Ada and Separate Ways—as well as The Mercenaries horde mode have received a full share of improvements themselves.
