Of all the games within the franchise, Resident Evil 4 is probably the one that fans will often reminisce about, which switched things up and caused it to move in a new direction in the early 2000s. While Resident Evil in general is an influential horror series, it's the fourth game that frequently tops the list of people's favorites. For that reason, a number of modders have been hard at work for the last eight years bringing graphical tweaks and some up-to-date features to this beloved 17-year-old classic.
According to a recent report from DSO Gaming, the fan-made Resident Evil 4 HD project is now finally out. Version 1.0 does exactly what it says on the tin, it brings high-definition graphical prowess to the aging entry, which offers a complete remaster of the original game, and includes enhanced textures, improvements to character models and cutscenes, as well as general lighting and visual effects. The mod page also features a video which instructs players on how to install it.

Resident Evil 4 HD Project has been hotly-anticipated, and while it's not a full remake, the fact that it provides a way to play the game with a better, cleaner look is a testament to people's love of the game, and the talent of the modding team. As well as the aforementioned improvements and tweaks, the add-on fixes a number of bugs, and adds some extra features, such as the ability to alter the FOV. It should be mentioned at this stage that this is not a standalone remaster of the original game, but is a mod, and players will need to have a copy of the PC version beforehand.
