Iconiq Studios has revealed more details about Tomb Raider: The Crypt of Chronos, including how it compares to the games and what modes players can expect. Furthermore, IGN can exclusively reveal a first look at the Lara Croft miniature that will be included in the game.
Tomb Raider: The Crypt of Chronos is set to start its Kickstarter in late May 2025, and you can check out the first look at how Lara will look in the game below. She is posed with her dual pistols and is standing atop a column with a confident smile on her face.
This board game take on Tomb Raider is meant to represent so much of what fans love about the game, including exploration, puzzle-solving, and combat. During the game, Lara is on a journey to the island of Kairos to search for an artifact said to "hold the reins of time." She will have to survive dangerous terrain, devious traps, and a familiar foe in Natla Technologies.
As for the modes, the first one is called Adventure Book Mode and is meant to be a structured, story-driven experience that will guide players through various scenarios. There are various missions to undertake and they can last anywhere from 20 to 60 minutes.
If players are looking for a longer adventure, Campaign Mode is the way to go as it will be a "vast, free-roaming experience on an expansive island map" that will take around three hours to complete. There will also be randomized locations and missions to keep things fresh for each new play session.
No matter which mode you play, there will be a crafting system that allows players to gather more powerful weapons, outfits, and abilities.
Lastly, Iconiq Studios has confirmed that, while Tomb Raider: The Crypt of Chronos has been built around solo play like the games, it will let players bring a long some friends for the ride.
