With the release of Reacher on Amazon's Prime TV, prospects for the future seasons of the series are not far off. This new reboot stars Titans’ Alan Ritchson in the titular role, offering a different — and more book-accurate version of the character compared with Tom Cruise’s version of the character in the 2012 film, Jack Reacher. Lee Child, the author of the original novels the character and series are based on, is heavily supportive of Ritchson. Other actors in the series include iZombie’s Malcolm Goodwin, Dare Me’s Willa Fitzgerald, Smallville’s Kristin Kreuk, and What We Do in the Shadows star, Harvey Guillén. With a promising cast, Reacher is shaping up to be quite the release for the streaming service.
Reacher follows the story of Jack Reacher, an ex-military police officer who wanders through city to village, running into unintentional trouble now and then. Ritchson’s look for this new live-action iteration of the character is more novel-accurate compared to Cruise’s Reacher. It also adapts Killing Floor which is the first book in Child’s series, with the protagonist arriving at Margrave, Georgia. There, he is accused of and arrested for a murder he didn’t commit. Finding himself tangled up in solving the case, he works alongside police officer Roscoe and chief detective, Finlay.
