NFTs are a controversial topic at the moment, with a number of publishers and developers receiving deserved backlash for attempting their own NFT projects. One publisher that has jumped right aboard the NFT train is Konami, and PlatinumGames vice president Hideki Kamiya had very little kind words for the company.
In a recent interview with VGC (via Nintendo Life) regarding whether the developer has any interest in NFTs of its own, both PlatinumGames CEO Atsushi Inaba and Vice President Hideki Kamiya explain that they have "no positive impact on the creators or the users in any sense."

"The people who are trying to promote NFTs and partner with gaming companies, their conversations seem extremely one-sided," explains Inaba. ""Hey, you’re going to make money!" But how does it benefit the user or the creator? If I want to spend my time on something, I want it to benefit making good games."
The pair were then asked whether they were surprised at Konami's eagerness to get involved with NFTs, to which Kamiya responds "If it smells like money, Konami’s going to be there in a heartbeat." Kamiya then goes on to mirror Inaba's sentiment while claiming that PlatinumGames will only explore NFTs once "a positive side for users" has been found.
Developers and publishers have been a lot more hesitant to get into NFT these days after controversies surrounding both Stalker 2 and Team17 saw wildly unpopular attempts very quickly reversed. Even EA has decided against getting into NFTs just yet.
