The popular animated slacker duo from the 1990s has returned for an exclusive new feature film on Paramount+ entitled Beavis and Butt-Head Do the Universe, which could potentially lead to another Beavis and Butt-Head film from the streaming service. It has been over ten years since the last season of Beavis and Butt-Head aired on MTV, revived for an eighth season in 2011 after originally being canceled in 1997. Beavis and Butt-Head Do the Universe is a continuation of the show and is also a sequel to the 1996 theatrically released film, Beavis and Butt-Head Do America.
Beavis and Butt-Head Do the Universe begins with the title teenagers in 1998, shortly after the end of the Beavis and Butt-Head series. The title characters are forced to attend space camp as a punishment for destroying their school’s science fair, which inexplicably leads to them joining a NASA team on a mission into space. After traveling into a black hole, Beavis and Butt-Head are transported through time and find themselves in 2022. This set-up provides the perfect explanation for the pair returning as the same age they were when the series last aired, allowing the opportunity for another film release as well as the planned revival series on Paramount+.
