The upcoming Soulslike Thymesia is less than three months away from its official release, after facing a slight delay to its progress and release date. This addition to the ever expanding Soulslike genre brings its players to another dark, brutal, medieval setting, in a kingdom ravaged by a strange plague. The hero to Thymesia is the mysterious Corvus, a powerful amnesiac who dons a plague mask and stalks the streets of the unnamed kingdom to rid it of its affliction.
Since its announcement, publisher Team17 has thankfully shared plenty of details regarding Thymesia's gameplay mechanics through trailers. The London-based studio has also published a number of screenshots which showcase the broody setting that players can look forward to exploring.
The Title of Soulslike Thymesia Explained
This initial announcement introduces prospective fans to the dark, gruesome world of the upcoming Soulslike game Thymesia. The trailer also showcases some of the game's combat mechanics, alongside a few of its bosses and what looks to be a number of quick-time events. While British studio Team17, developer of Worms and Overcooked 2, will be publishing Thymesia, the trailer announced that Taiwanese studio OverBorder Studio spearheads the game's development.
Thymesia's dark, medieval setting is explained and showcased in this trailer. It takes players into the game's «world of alchemy» that finds itself ruined by a mysterious plague. The main character Corvus – an enigmatic half-human, half-raven – is also named in this trailer, and its narration explains that players will obtain various skills alongside utilizing Thymesia's plague weapons, each of which can be upgraded via a skill tree.
