There's an exciting slate of Star Wars shows coming in 2022 and 2023, and Star Wars Celebration 2022 provided many new details about the franchise's future. Under the guidance of Disney and following some controversial movies, the future of Star Wars is now clearly defined on Disney+. The launch of the streaming service in 2019 came with the debut of The Mandalorian, the highly anticipated first live-action Star Wars show. Following the incredible success of the series, Lucasfilm continued to concentrate on developing multiple other projects for the streaming service.
To this point, there have been two live-action Star Wars shows on Disney+, as well as three animated shows. The Mandalorian is the biggest of them all and season 2 set up the surprise spinoff, The Book of Boba Fett. Meanwhile, audiences saw Star Wars: The Clone Wars return for season 7 on the streaming service and set up a sequel series in Star Wars: The Bad Batch. Star Wars: Visions season 1 also came to Disney+. These shows just scratch the surface of what Lucasfilm is planning for the galaxy far, far away on the small screen, as the Mandalorian universe is set to expand, familiar characters are retaking the spotlight, and new adventures are being created.

After COVID-19 blocked plans for a convention where Lucasfilm can present its plans to fans in person, the return of Star Wars Celebration in 2022 changed that. The studio didn't waste its opportunity to directly show the franchise's passionate fanbase what lies ahead.
