Tom Clancy's The Division series has been met with a predominantly positive reception and has only continued to grow over the last few years with a whole slew of free content updates. While the first game didn't quite live up to its potential, Division 2 sought to rectify that, and for the most part, it succeeded. And with the success of The Division 2, it only makes sense that Ubisoft would want to keep the Division train rolling, and that's exactly what it's doing with The Division: Heartland releasing some time in the next year or so.
Currently, the only official details known about Division: Heartland are that it will be a free-to-play game, and that it's current release date is slated for the 2022-2023 fiscal year, which ends in March 2023. Aside from these details, fans know little else, but there have been some pretty in-depth leaks, some of which come from a pretty viable source.

According to the known leaker Tom Henderson, who has also revealed a variety of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 details over the last year, The Division: Heartland will feature two main game modes. The first of these game modes is «Excursion,» where players will be able to team up against AI and explore the game's large map. This mode will apparently act as a tutorial for the game's primary mode, «Storm.»
The Division: Heartland's «Storm» game mode will apparently take a leaf out of Escape From Tarkov's book, being a PvPvE mode that tasks players with exploring a massive open-world map, looting as much as they can, and escaping the map with all their loot intact. All the while, players will need to avoid or defeat the rest of the player-populated lobby, along with some tough AI foes.
