The Epic Games Store gives away new free games on a weekly basis, with users able to grab their next free offering every Thursday at 10am CT. Besides giving fans a new free game for their digital libraries, the Epic Games Store also uses Thursdays at 10am CT to reveal what's coming the following week.
Thursday, January 27 is no exception to that rule, with the Epic Games Store giving away a new free game while also confirming what's coming next week. As of right now, Epic Games Store users can claim the mecha action game Daemon x Machina for free. Daemon x Machina was originally a Nintendo Switch exclusive game but eventually made its way to PC. It earned somewhat mixed reviews at the time of its release, but it should still appeal to fans of the genre.
Epic Games Store Reveals First Free Game for February 2022
Daemon x Machina is the Epic Games Store free game from Thursday, January 27 until Thursday, February 3 at 10am CT, at which point it will be replaced by the next free game. Next week's free game is Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair, a well-received 2D platformer from Playtonic, a studio comprised of former Rare developers.
What's interesting about Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair being one of the Epic Games Store free games is that it's actually already been given away for free through the Epic Games Store before. In fact, Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair was one of the free games that the Epic Games Store gave away during its 12 Days of Free Games event that took place at the end of 2019.
Considering this, it's quite possible that there are many Epic Games Store users that already have Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair in their collection, and so they may be disappointed by next week's offering.
