Warner Bros. unveils the official Elvis trailer revealing the first look at Baz Luhrmann's biographical musical drama for the titular rock legend. The film will revolve around Elvis Presley as he rises to stardom as the «King of Rock and Roll» following his discovery by manager Colonel Tom Parker. Lurhmann is directing the film on a script he co-wrote with Sam Bromell, Craig Pearce and Jeremy Doner based on a story treatment he developed with Doner.
Austin Butler and Tom Hanks are leading the cast of Elvis as the titular musician and Colonel Tom Parker alongside Olivia DeJonge, Yola Quartey, Luke Bracey, Kelvin Harrison Jr., Dacre Montgomery, Helen Thomson, Richard Roxburgh and David Wenham. Development on the film was first announced in 2014 with Luhrmann originally set to direct from a script by Kelly Marcel, though wouldn't gain any ground until early 2019 when Hanks signed on for the cast. Production on Elvis was notably halted in early 2020 when Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson contracted COVID-19, though would later resume September of the same year and concluding in early 2021.
On the heels of a snippet of footage being shared for the film, Warner Bros. has released the official Elvis trailer. The video offers a look at Baz Luhrmann's music biopic chronicling the life and career of the iconic rock-and-roll musician. Check out the trailer below:
