A free update for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is available now, and it reveals the names of the upcoming DLC cups.
The Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass, which costs $24.99 / £24.99, will provide 48 DLC tracks across six waves, the first of which will land on Friday, March 18.
The courses will include remakes of classic tracks from across the series from games such as Super Mario Kart, Mario Kart 64, Mario Kart Double Dash, Mario Kart Wii, as well as handheld entries and the mobile game, Mario Kart Tour.
It’s been known for some time that the first eight tracks would be separated into two Grand Prix cups called the Golden Dash Cup and the Lucky Cat Cup.
However, the new update – which brings the game up to version 2.0.0 – now lists all 12 cups, even though the other tracks aren’t yet confirmed for them.
The full list of new cups is as follows:
Although the Booster Course Pass has not yet gone live at the time of writing – meaning the tracks are visible but not playable – when it does go live, players will still need to download the free update to version 2.0.0.
To date, Nintendo has never released more than one mainline Mario Kart game on a single console.
The platform holder said in November 2020 that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe had officially become the franchise’s best-selling entry ever with nearly 40 million copies sold.
