Elden Ring is FromSoftware's first fully open world game in its current trademark style of difficult, dark-fantasy RPGs. To accommodate Elden Ring’s greater focus on exploration and discovery, some tweaks were made to the control scheme which would otherwise feel familiar to many returning Dark Souls players. A dedicated jump button was added, along with a mount which allows players to travel across Elden Ring’s vast map much quicker. Fall damage was also greatly reduced compared to previous games.
Some specific traversal challenges were added to Elden Ring in order to test the player’s platforming skills. However, although the game’s new jumping controls do allow for freer player movement, Elden Ring’s control scheme is still primarily designed around its combat system, and this means that some of the game's platforming challenges can be extremely tricky and frustrating.

One of the most difficult instances of a platforming challenge in Elden Ring is found near the Minor Erdtree in Caelid, and which sees players traversing a series of roots overhanging a cliff in order to reach a small platform containing one of Elden Ring’s Ashes of War, along with a large Golem enemy. Many players have expressed their trouble in reaching this area, but a Reddit user named MeticulousMitch has now shared a trick for reaching this platform with ease.
The trick involves using Torrent, Elden Ring's incredibly useful mount, along with a nearby spiritspring, which are columns of wind that will launch Torrent high up into the air and are usually meant to help reach high up platforms.
