Even though Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree attracted some backlash due to complaints over its difficulty, there was never any doubt that the expansion was going to be a massive critical and commercial success for FromSoftware and publisher Bandai Namco, and it’s certainly living up to those expectations.
Taking to Twitter, FromSoftware and Bandai Namco have announced that Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree has sold over 5 million units. The DLC hit that sales milestone within just three days of its launch last week. In comparison, as revealed shortly prior to the expansion’s launch, the base game has sold over 25 million units since it came out in 2022.
FromSoftware recently released an update for Shadow of the Erdtree that looks to address some recent criticisms over its difficulty by buffing Scadutree Blessings. Read more on that through here.
Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree is available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Read our review of the expansion through here, where we awarded it a score of 10/10 and called it “a must-play for the fans of the genre.”
