Elden Ring's latest update just made the hardest fight in the game even more difficult. Malenia is already one of the more challenging bosses, even if she can be avoided by players who want to complete Elden Ring's main quest line. There may be even more reason to do so now.
FromSoftware is known for creating incredibly difficult video games, and Elden Ring is no exception to this criteria. The game is littered with difficult bosses, but the consensus most difficult boss in the game is without a doubt Malenia, Blade of Miquella. Malenia's fight pattern lets her heal a portion of her health any time she hits a player, regardless if the attack is blocked. As long as the player comes into contact with Malenia's attack, the health regenerate. Although players can unlock a Rememberance and a new ending for Elden Ring, defeating Malenia was already a difficult challenge. Now, this task was made even more difficult after the latest patch.

As reported by Kotaku, the latest patch contains a bug that made Malenia's self-heal mechanic even more powerful. Now, Malenia restores health unconditionally. Malenia's attacks no longer need to hit the player in order to heal. A player's attacks could completely whiff and hit nothing but air and she will still restore health. While this bug will certainly be patched out of Elden Ring soon, it's providing a temporary roadblock to an already difficult obstacle for many players.
