Elden Ring is now Steam‘s sixth biggest game ever in terms of concurrent players, according to data tracked by SteamDB.
The RPG which achieved incredible reviews when it launched last month has seen over 950,000 players concurrently playing the game, beating titles such as Valheim, Fallout 4 and Grand Theft Auto V.

At launch, we reported that Elden Ring achieved over 764,000 concurrent players, which was nearly six times as many as Dark Souls III ever achieved. This new number of just shy of one million puts even more focus on how much of a success Elden Ring appears to have been.
However, the reception to Elden Ring from players hasn’t been quite as strong as the reaction from critics. We reported that the game was receiving a significant number of negative reviews from PC users at launch.
This was mainly down to issues like stuttering, frame rate issues, and lack of support for non-standard monitor sizes.
One user review wrote: “Struggling to maintain 60fps/1080p on a [GeForce RX] 3080, massive stuttering and drops to the mid 20s, crashed four times within two hours of game time, 60fps cap, and no ultrawide support,”.
The game has begun to receive patches, but performance across all versions remains somewhat of an issue, although not every player seems to experience it.
Players have already begun exploring Elden Ring to its fullest, with one player even finding a secret arena that may point to upcoming multiplayer DLC.
Elden Ring’s UK release was the biggest launch for a game other than FIFA or Call of Duty since Rockstar‘s Red Dead Redemption 2 in 2018.
