An upcoming Elden Ring competition will allow gamers to become an Elden Lady or Elden Lord by claiming land in Scotland. FromSoftware's open-world action role-playing game will bring players to The Lands Between, an expansive fantasy world ruled by various demigods. An Elden Ring launch trailer from FromSoftware recently prepared followers for its February 25 launch by offering a look at never-before-seen locations and bosses.

However, while the developer's past soulslike titles used largely linear level design, Elden Ring will give gamers the freedom to explore The Lands Between on horseback at their leisure. The setting's backstory was actually developed by A Song of Ice and Fireauthor George R. R. Martin, with FromSoftware then using this lore to craft the story of the game itself. The developer claims that Elden Ring lore changes will shock George R. R. Martin, since the deities he created will appear in-game as twisted shadows of their former glory.
