Continuing our showcase of unique items from Patch 9.2's upcoming Sepulcher of the First Ones raid, we have the Gluttonous Gardbrace, a special plate pauldron with the unique ability of making the player eat faster. Dropping from the aptly named worm Skolex, the Insatiable Ravener, you might think this special effect would be featured on a pair of gloves, but it turns out that shoulder strength is the secret to eating quickly. Do worms even have shoulders?Insatiable Ravening has three effects while eating: halving the time between restorative ticks, doubling the value of each, and halving the total duration (and therefore amount of ticks). In other words, getting the same amount of health and mana restoration over half the time, so that a Feast of Gluttonous Hedonism would still grant the same 48,077 health and 38,462 mana, but over 10 seconds rather than the normal 20. This is exactly the kind of functionality many Mythic+ enthusiasts have been complaining about for quite awhile, as time spent drinking to regain mana between pulls is one of the biggest sources of downtime between pulls.
Modifies Time Between Ticks -50% Modifies Spell Effectiveness 100% Modifies Buff Duration -50%Nice as it is though, this clearly isn't intended to fix that complaint, as it has a few obvious restrictions — namely only being viable for Plate wearers and only if they're actually wearing the raid shoulder piece, since gear can't be changed during Mythic+. As such, this probably shouldn't be taken as a radical shift in approach to Mythic+ or restoring healer mana unless you exclusively play with Paladins, though if the item proves popular enough, it may open the door for future iteration on those systems.
