It's been several years and counting since Mass Effect Andromeda introduced the world to Pathfinder Ryder and the titular faraway galaxy they traverse. The game's divisive legacy once put prospective players off from giving it a chance, but with the passage of time and a BioWare-shaped hole in their hearts, more people have come around — and found some fun in so doing.

One of Mass Effect Andromeda's more involved side missions is called First Murderer, and as the name (kind of) implies, it features a character whose alleged death-dealing turns him into the first convicted murderer in the Andromeda Galaxy. That's quite the achievement if so, but also quite the stigma and subsequent punishment. It's up to Ryder to learn the truth of it.

The First Murderer side mission is available fairly early into Mass Effect Andromeda. You only need to have reached the Nexus Reunion main mission, It's hard to miss this one, too, since there's a rather distraught Turian lady over at the Nexus' Militia HQ standing around out in the open. It's all rather miserable, and if you initiate a conversation with her, you'll soon find out why.
The woman, who introduces herself as Mariette, is in a bit of a bind. Her husband, Nelkin Rensus, has been accused of (and convicted for!) a murder that she is convinced he did not commit. He's slated to be exiled, which could mean a cold, hard death out here on the frontier.
