EA to delist Battlefield 1943, Bad Company 1 and 2
pcgamesinsider.bizUS publishing giant Electronic Arts has said that it will be removing several entries in its Battlefield series from digital storefronts.
In a post on its website, the publisher said that as of April 28th, players will not be able to access Battlefield 1943 and both Bad Company 1 and 2.
This comes ahead of the online services for these titles coming to a close on December 8th, 2023. The offline modes for all the Bad Company games will still be available after this time.
"While these titles hold a special place in our heart, we’re now looking forward to creating new memories alongside you as we shift our focus towards our current and future Battlefield experiences," the DICE team wrote.
It seems that Mirror's Edge was initially part of this wave of closures, though it has notably been removed from the blog post. This might be due to the outcry on social media after word broke that it was being pulled.
Bad Company was the first title to use DICE's Frostbite engine. The tech was made specifically for that title and has since powered every major Battlefield game since, as well as its Star Wars Battlefront games and a number of EA titles such as FIFA and Mass Effect: Andromeda.
