EA Pokes Fun At Single-Player Games, Gets Roasted, Immediately Backtracks
You've probably seen that tweet format going around, "They're a ten but they like Knack," essentially sharing red flags for dating. Nothing kills a joke more than a brand, though, and EA's attempt to jump in was immediately booed.
"They’re a ten but they only like playing single-player games," it tweeted, instantly met with backlash from single-player fans everywhere. "Dragon Age enters the fight," community manager Liana Ruppert responded. Others joked about Anthem and Battlefield 2042's launch, made countdowns to the "apology tweet", and spun it to say things like, "They're a ten but they think EA is a good company."

So EA quote retweeted its original tweet, "Roast well deserved. We'll take this L cause playing single-player games actually makes them an 11." Ratio, "this is worse," sentiments of being too late, "pure cope," and more flooded the comments. The Outer Worlds and Fallout: New Vegas developer Obsidian even subtweeted them.
That was mostly met with positivity, but someone commented, "Nobody says rad anymore, dad." Obsidian poked fun back, "But we're actively working on a game set in the early '90s, child."
EA hasn't only published Battlefield and Anthem. The aforementioned Dragon Age is one of its own releases, as well as Mass Effect, Dead Space, The Sims, and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order which is getting a sequel. Even developers who worked at EA chimed in with quote retweets and comments: "Thinking about working until midnight for the better part of a year to help ship Mass Effect 2," BioWare writer Patrick Weekes added.
