Lord of the Rings has seen many video game adaptations with mobile games like Lord of the Rings: Rise to War being the franchise's most recent foray into the medium. EA has announced it is working on a new Lord of the Rings mobile game in collaboration with Middle-Earth Enterprises.
Lord of the Rings video games are not too hard to come by these days with Shadow of Mordor and Lord of the Rings Online as some of the more notable ones. The mobile games themed around the Lord of the Rings franchise over the years have ranged from trivia to pinball, and then real-time strategy games as technology evolved on mobile phones.
Lord of the Rings Online Update Makes Most Expansions Free, Adds New Zone
Electronic Arts has announced that it is making a new Lord of the Rings mobile game. The game will be free-to-play and will be titledLord of the Rings: Heroes of Middle Earth. EA has not released many details about the game other than its title, an image, and that the game will be made in partnership with Middle-Earth Enterprises. According to Chief brand and licensing officer for Middle-Earth Enterprises Fredrica Drotos the game will be «solely inspired by Middle-Earth as described in the literary works of J.R.R. Tolkien.» It will also apparently feature a wider roster of characters from The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings, turn-based combat, deep collection systems, immersive storytelling, competitive play, and even battles across many known stories from Tolkien's works.
