Dwayne Johnson says Pierce Brosnan's Doctor Fate in Black Adam will please fans. Helmed by Jungle Cruise's Jaume Collet-Serra, Black Adam marks the DCEU debut of former WWE superstar Johnson, a.k.a. the Rock, as the titular ancient Egyptian anti-hero. Johnson has been attached to play the character since 2014, although at that time he was supposed to appear as a villain in David F. Sandberg's Shazam! movie. The megastar ultimately ended up getting a film of his own, and although it took some time to get off the ground, it is now finally ready to hit theaters on October 21, 2022.
Apart from Johnson's first turn as a superhero, there are several other reasons the Black Adam movie is so hotly anticipated. For one, it marks the franchise debut of the Justice Society of America (JSA), an alliance of superpowered underdogs who believe in fighting for truth and virtue. Aldis Hodge will lead the JSA in Black Adam as Hawkman, whereas To All the Boys I've Loved Before star Noah Centineo and Quintessa Swindell will play two of the JSA's junior members, Atom Smasher and Cyclone, respectively. Besides Hodge, Centineo, and Swindell, former James Bond actor Brosnan stars as senior JSA member Kent Nelson/ Doctor Fate.
