The first look at the characters from Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves in costume has been revealed at Comic-Con 2022. Dungeons & Dragons is a classic tabletop roleplaying game that was created by Gary Gygax and originally released in 1974. The property, which includes a wide variety of creatures and magic within its expansive lore, was previously adapted into a film in 2000. Although that movie was not an eminent success, it received two sequels: One a TV movie in 2005, and one that went direct-to-DVD in 2012. The game was recently brought to the forefront of pop culture yet again by its inclusion in the retro fantasy-horror Netflix series Stranger Things.
The cinematic wing of the franchise went dormant after the 2012 film while the new project Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves seemed stuck in production hell. However, the film is finally coming to screens on March 3, 2023. This iteration of the project was directed by John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, from a script they co-wrote with Michael Gilio.
