Dune: Spice Wars has a brand new update that brings a new Conquest mode to the strategy game. The update is the last one before the full launch update, and it’s packed with features.
The Conquest update is Fourth major update since the game went into Early Access, and the teams at Shiro Games and Funcom on Dune: Spice Wars Are working on getting all the features they want in the full release, as well as polishing everything up.
First up in this update is the feature that gives the update its title: Conquest mode. Conquest mode is a way to get to know the different houses, their advantages, disadvantages, and a lot more. Each run of this new campaign mode will generate scenarios, perks, challenges, and a different scenario each time in a solo challenge that lets you experiment with different playstyles and really get to know all the major houses and factions.
The team promises that each run will give about 10 hours of campaign play time and no two runs will be alike. Finally, the devs will continue to expand Conquest mode over time, adding new missions, scenarios, environments, and more.
A few Conquest runs should also help some players learn the ropes for multiplayer and to become more agile with strategy. Speaking of learning the ropes, with this update, there’s also several expanded tutorials. These include things like the basic controls, how to harvest Spice, strategies for water and upkeep, and exploration.
This is a big update, and the team says it's the biggest since Early Access opened up last year. There are a whole bunch of rebalances, reworked faction bonuses and some characters, economic changes, a new unique village building for each faction, and a number of unit improvements.
