Screen Rant has the exclusive first look at Dark Horse's Dune: Royal Ornithopter replica statue as the collectible officially goes on pre-order. Based on Frank Herbert's 1965 novel of the same name, the sci-fi epic centers on Paul Atreides and his noble family in the far-flung future as they take control of the desert planet Arrakis, putting them in the midst of a war for the planet and its valuable resource known as the spice. Timothée Chalamet led the ensemble cast of Dune alongside Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, David Dastmalchian, Jason Momoa, Javier Bardem and Zendaya.
Development on Dune first kicked off in 2016 when Legendary Entertainment acquired the rights to the novel and tapped writer/director Denis Villeneuve to helm the film on a script he co-wrote with Jon Spaiths and Eric Roth. Villeneuve becomes the second filmmaker to tackle the property after David Lynch's 1984 movie, which notably was a box office bomb and critical failure but has since garnered a cult following. Following multiple delays, Dune hit theaters and HBO Max late last year to largely positive reviews from critics and audiences alike and those who fell in love with the film have something exciting coming their way in the near future.
