Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Still a No-Show Over Two Years Later, But Development Is Steady | Push Square

Announced back in May 2021, Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake has been missing in action ever since. December 2022 was the last time it popped up in the news cycle, with series creator Yuji Horii saying news was potentially coming «soon». We're now closing in on the one-year anniversary of that comment, and obviously, the update never came.

But don't worry, the game itself is still plodding along behind the scenes. Once again, Horii has spoken with Japanese gaming mag Famitsu (as translated by Gematsu), and he confirms that Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake development is «progressing quite steadily». And, well, that's about it.

We suppose there's a chance that the title will show up at Tokyo Game Show this week, but we do wonder how far out its release actually is. You would think that the process of shaping a remake like this would be relatively straightforward, but here we are. Hopefully we get another glimpse of the game soon.

Oh, and Dragon Quest 12? Horii hasn't got much to say on that anticipated sequel, either. «There’s still not much I can say,» he admits.
