If Doctor Who's 60th-anniversary special brings back David Tennant in his role as the 10th Doctor, it's time for him to bring Donna Noble (Catherine Tate) along for the ride instead of Rose Tyler (Billie Piper). 2023 will bring about 60 years since the long-running British sci-fi darling first began airing on the BBC. Multi-Doctor features have become expected of the long-running series' anniversary episodes, and with Russell T Davies returning as showrunner, it's rumored that Tennant is slated to appear in the role once more.
Rumor surrounds Doctor Who as it readies itself to enter a new era with the announcement that Jodie Whitaker will be stepping down from her role as the 13th Doctor. Though much is still uncertain, speculation and supposed leaks have led many to wonder if Donna and the 10th Doctor will be reprising their roles to work with RTD as showrunner once more. Whether this is wishful thinking or a real possibility, it's notable that the 50th anniversary featured three Doctors and broke records for viewership across the world. Christopher Eccleston calls multi-Doctor stories cash-grabs, but the results speak to their popularity with fans: multi-Doctor features are unlikely to go away any time soon.

Rose's popularity and impact are understandable; their love story is sweet and special and gratifying, but it's also finished.
