Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness VFX artist Alexis Wajsbrot has teased the potential of other universes appearing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness premiered on May 6, 2022, and served as the first proper exploration of Marvel's multiverse, which was first teased by WandaVision and later explored further in Loki. Then, Spider-Man: No Way Home saw several characters breach the main timeline through the multiverse, introducing Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield's versions of Spider-Man into the MCU. However, it is Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness that actually follows Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) and America Chavez (Xochitl Gomez) as they traverse the multiverse.

Each universe is only shown for a few brief moments before the two tumble into the next. Viewers see the characters enter a universe where they are cubes and another where they turn into paint. Upon looking closely, though, viewers can actually find interesting Easter eggs and references hidden throughout the scene. For example, one moment gives viewers a glimpse of an apparent Hydra-ruled world where a blimp bears the organization's emblem.
