As the film crosses new box offie milestones, the Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness streaming release date has reportedly been revealed. The latest chapter in the Marvel Cinematic Universe continues the story threads from Loki season 1, Spider-Man: No Way Home and WandaVision as Elizabeth Olsen's Wanda Maximoff has become corrupted by the Darkhold in her quest to be reunited with her children, Billy and Tommy. Wanda sets off in pursuit of America Chavez to steal her powers to travel the multiverse, requiring Benedict Cumberbatch's Doctor Strange to step up and protect the young hero.
Alongside Cumberbatch and Olsen, the cast for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness sees the MCU returns of Benedict Wong, Michael Stuhlbarg and Rachel McAdams as well as the MCU debuts of Xochitl Gomez as America, Patrick Stewart as a Professor X variant and Charlize Theron as Clea. Helmed by Sam Raimi and penned by Loki creator Michael Waldron, the film has received generally positive reviews for Raimi's direction, the performances of Cumberbatch, Olsen and Gomez and the mind-bending visual effects, though its inconsistent pacing has received criticism. Despite a major drop in its second weekend, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has mostly dominated at the box office.
