The rumor follows hard on the heels of a previous report that suggested a 2022 Holiday release window for the game. Back in May, well-known industry insider Jeff Grubb shared an update in regards to The Last of Us remake's PS5 release window. Now, an exact release date seems to have leaked as well.
According to Grubb previously, The Last of Us remake might be aiming at the 2022 Holiday release window since the development process has reportedly proven to be quite efficient. The insider didn’t cite any sources, but Grubb’s overall industry knowledge and connections make the report rather trustworthy. The most recent leak, however, contains an even more intriguing piece of information.

Leaker and industry insider named The Snitch on Twitter has shared a cryptic announcement that might be containing information in regards to The Last of Us remake's confirmed release date and target platforms. The simple tweet suggests that the “PART 1” — presumably, The Last of Us: Part I — could release as soon as September 2, 2022. The post also contains a pair of emojis, one of which is a game controller while the other one is a PC/laptop. It’s fair to assume that this puzzle hints at platforms the anticipated remake might be coming to. Not only will TLOU hit PS5, which is fairly obvious, but it also may simultaneously land on PC.
