The events of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness inform Loki season 2's story according to writer Michael Waldron. Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is leaning heavily into the concept of the multiverse. While other universes were teased before, Loki season 1 marked the first time that they were truly explored. Development on Loki season 2 has been underway for nearly the last year, but series writer Michael Waldron also has other responsibilities with the MCU. He was hired to help work on the script for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. After Loki season 1 saw the Sacred Timeline branch out into infinite timelines, the Doctor Strange sequel will see Benedict Cumberbatch's sorcerer and Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) entangled in a multiverse adventure. It was already known that Loki helped set up the events of Doctor Stange 2, but now it appears that the movie will also have an impact on season 2.
