In a brand new clip released shortly ahead of the release of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, the titular sorcerer is seen rescuing MCU newcomer America Chavez. After the success of the first Doctor Strange, released in 2016, a sequel seemed all but certain. It was initially put into development with director Scott Derrickson returning, but he later departed over creative differences. Doctor Strange 2 is instead directed by Sam Raimi and will feature both new and returning characters. After facing a series of delays due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Multiverse of Madness will finally debut in theaters in May.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness follows Benedict Cumberbatch's titular sorcerer during his sixth outing within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It picks up after the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home, finding Strange as he is forced to battle a new kind of evil across the multiverse. Confirmed to be joining Strange within the film is Wanda Maximoff, now known as the Scarlet Witch, who is dealing with her own magical resurgence. Alongside Cumberbatch, Doctor Strange 2 also stars Elizabeth Olsen, Xochitl Gomez, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Benedict Wong, Michael Sthulbarg, and Rachel McAdams.
