Sam Raimi explains America Chavez's role in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The director is known for creating the Evil Dead franchise and the Spider-Man trilogy starring Tobey Maguire. However, he was recently chosen to helm the Doctor Strange sequel after the original director, Scott Derrickson, stepped down due to creative differences. Due to Raimi's reputation as a horror maven, his presence behind the camera is expected to have infused the Marvel movie with some additional spookiness.
In Spider-Man: No Way Home, Doctor Strange's botched spell allowed multiple villains to enter the MCU, which he had to put back by casting a spell that made everyone forget Peter Parker is Spider-Man. Benedict Cumberbatch's neurosurgeon-turned-sorcerer will have to deal with the consequences of his actions during his second solo outing, during which things will get even more out of hand. Making her MCU debut in the film is America Chavez, portrayed by The Baby-Sitters Club star Xochitl Gomez. As Doctor Strange 2 gears up for its theatrical release, its director has been offering insight into the young hero's role in the sequel.

Raimi recently sat down with Empire to discuss Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and touched upon Chavez's role in the film. The director said that Doctor Strange will still be learning about the Multiverse in the movie, which Chavez can travel through.
