Nintendo shared the latest trailer on Tuesday, giving fans a new look at Pikachu’s return to solving mysteries when the game launches on October 6, 2023 for the Nintendo Switch.
The newest Detective Pikachu Returns trailer puts players in the POV of Detective Pikachu as he breaks down a day in the life of being a Pokémon detective. Pikachu gives fans a breakdown of the Goodman family, including Pikachu’s partner Tim, father Harry, mother Irene, and sisters Sophia and Rachel, as well as other people in Ryme City.

From there, the trailer quickly delves into how players will solve crimes, with Tim talking to humans and Pikachu talking to Pokémon. Similar to the original Detective Pikachu, players will also sometimes be able to utilize Pokémon for help, like climbing onto a Growlithe to sniff out clues, or getting a Darmanitan to help punch through blockades.
The original Detective Pikachu released in 2016 in Japan before releasing worldwide in 2018. The game became a surprise hit for Nintendo, with a live-action film even being made in 2019.
