Demon Slayer: The Hinokami Chronicles 2 releases in North America and Europe in 2025. A specific date has not yet been announced. It will launch on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC via Steam, and Nintendo Switch.
The sequel’s Story Mode begins right where the original Hinokami Chronicles left off with the Mugen Train arc. Specifically, players will replay key moments from the Entertainment District, Swordsmith Village, and Hashira Training arcs.
Demon Slayer: The Hinokami Chronicles 2’s VS Mode will have over 40 playable characters in its roster. All the characters from the first game, including its post launch DLC fighters, will be in the sequel. Additionally, the nine Hashira will join the roster.
“The Hinokami Chronicles 2 is a thrilling arena fighter from the team at CyberConnect2 that builds upon the original Hinokami Chronicles, whose cumulative physical game shipments and digital copies sold has exceeded 4 million units worldwide,” says a statement from Sega.
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba began as a manga series written and illustrated by Koyoharu Gotouge. It was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from February 2016 to May 2020. It is one of the best-selling manga series of all time with over 150 million copies in circulation.
The manga was adapted into an anime series by Ufotable. Making its debut in 2019, it actually finished its fourth season, the Hashira Training Arc, this year. The Infinity Castle arc will be adapted into three films, and will conclude the Demon Slayer story. Release dates for the movies have not yet been revealed. However, it is confirmed the first installment will receive a global theatrical release in 2025.
