The “evil” edition of Deathstroke’s costume is among the best he has had in the DC Universe. Although Slade Wilson has always been a villain, there’s an alternate, more sinister version of the character with a better suit design.
Slade Wilson has worn many costumes through his comic book history, ranging from a bulkier, swashbuckling look in his early days fighting the Teen Titans, to a sleeker, refined look as he has taken on Green Arrow and Batman. Although every artist has their own rendition of the suit, his general appearance hasn’t been altered much. However, another world’s Slade wears a radically different costume, as seen in Deathstroke #47, written by Priest with art by Fernando Pasarin, Carlo Pagulayan, Jason Paz, Cam Smith, and Wade Von Grawbadger.

The evil version of Deathstroke wears a redesigned suit, with armor that looks similar to the iconic costume. Similar to his earliest appearances, he is purely a villain, and his design embraces his motivation. Unlike the further developed mercenary in the DC Universe, the alternate Deathstroke doesn’t have the same propensity to change. The variant was previously hurled across realities by his world’s Raven, coming to the scene inDeathstroke #47 with a rage.
The alternate armor represents Deathstroke’s wide range of skills as an assassin. Although he looks cool and modernized, it doesn’t compromise the villainous characterization that his double receives. If the current canon take on Slade Wilson fully embraces his role as an antagonist in a story pitting him against the Teen Titans or the Dark Knight, it’s worth DC’s consideration to alter the suit in a similar fashion.
