The Lord of Stormveil Castle, Godrick the Grafted, is one of the first tests of mettle in Elden Ring. Many players, especially those who are new to FromSoftware's action RPGs, may have found him too difficult to overcome. The monstrous amalgamation of limbs has a very large health bar, and even though the fight can be reached, that doesn't mean players are ready to battle Godrick just yet. The solution may be to simply turn around and more thoroughly explore Stormveil or head back into Limgrave's wilderness.
Although Elden Ring's tutorial boss can be killed, it serves as the game's first message to players that dying is inevitable. This is almost immediately reiterated by the Tree Sentinel that patrols the path outside of the Cave of Knowledge tutorial area. Players aren't necessarily meant to defeat the tutorial boss, called the Grafted Scion, or the Tree Sentinel early on. The same can be said about Flying Dragon Agheel, who prowls Agheel Lake in the middle of Limgrave, and Margit the Fell Omen, who must be defeated to access Stormveil. FromSoftware's games are notorious for explaining very little to the player, forcing them to rely on trial and error in order to glean the best course of action.

Despite Elden Ring inheriting this obtuse nature, it quite literally points players in the direction of the main quest with the rays of golden light that sprout from certain Sites of Grace.
