Dead Rising fans have had plenty of reason to be happy of late, at long last. After a long hiatus, Capcom’s zombie-slaying franchise has enjoyed an unlikely revival with Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster, and based on the strong critical reception it has enjoyed so far, it definitely seems like the series finally has a future again, perhaps even with additional remakes. That, in fact, is something that Capcom itself is considering as well.
Speaking in a recent interview with Inverse, Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster producer Kei Morimoto stated that a remaster or remake of Dead Rising 2 is “definitely possible”. Morimoto says Capcom is keeping an eye on how the recently released Deluxe Remaster will sell, and that should an opportunity arise, a similar revival of the series’ second instalment is something the company will perhaps consider.
“Remaking or remastering Dead Rising 2 is definitely possible,” Morimoto said. “For the time being, we’re monitoring market trends and how Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster performs. If we’re able to identify an appropriate time where we’d be able to sell a remake or remaster of Dead Rising 2, there’s potential for the project to be considered.”
In our review of Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster, we awarded it a score of 9/10, saying, “Overhauled visuals, gameplay tweaks, and a bevy of quality-of-life improvements come together in a spectacular return to the land of the living for Dead Rising.” Read the full review through here.
Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster is available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
