Intel CEO, Pat Gelsinger, handed over the first sample of its next-gen Panther Lake CPU made using the bleeding-edge 18A process node to Lenovo.
During the Lenovo Tech World 24 event, Intel CEO, Pat Gelsinger, delivered a small speech talking about their collaborations with Lenovo and at the very end, he handed out a sample of the next-generation Panther Lake CPU to Lenovo's boss. The Panther Lake CPU made its first appearance during the event and we can see that the silicon seems to be ready, affirming the CEO's previous statements that 18A is in good health and showing great results in the labs.
For a quick rundown on Panther Lake, the "Core Ultra 300" SKUs are set to feature Cougar Cove P-Cores and Skymont E-Cores, and for the onboard iGPU, it will likely feature the third major Xe architecture update in the form of Xe3 which is codenamed Celestial, the successor to Battlemage. Based on previous rumors, here's what Panther Lake's potential SoCs would look like:
Unlike Lunar Lake, the Panther Lake SoC will not be featuring on-package memory for the variant that Pat held. This particular sample seems to be a traditional mobile-oriented part (H-Series) and should feature an array of tiles all connected using advanced packaging technologies.
The possibility of seeing on-package memory SoCs after Lunar Lake chips is slim but definitely not out of the equation given the positive feedback and reviews that they have seen. The company has
