DC's most underrated Batgirl gets a new costume in a stunning new redesign from artist Otto Schmidt that makes us wish the look was official. On his Twitter account, the DC vs. Vampires artist shared his 'fan art' costume for Stephanie Brown's Batgirl. The new outfit does a brilliant job honoring her history as Spoiler while giving her an ensemble that shows why she made such a great Batgirl in the first place.
Stephanie Brown is a key member of the Bat-Family, as she has held a few roles as a hero since debuting in Detective Comics #647 from DC Comics by Chuck Dixon and Tom Lyle. In the last 30 years, she's been known as the vigilante, the Spoiler, was Batman's fourth Robin ever, and eventually became DC's Batgirl. Currently, Batgirl stars in Batgirls by Michael W. Conrad and Becky Cloonan alongside Cassandra Cain, where both heroes operate under the mantle. To celebrate the character, who debuted almost 30 years ago exactly, artist Otto Schmidt shared his redesign of Stephanie Brown's Batgirl, giving a perfect new look to the fan-favorite hero.

The new costume for Batgirl keeps the similar dark purple look that the hero wore as Spoiler while offering something distinctly different. The look is practical and ready for action. Additionally, it features a long cape with a beautiful inner layer. The look is topped off with a bat symbol in yellow on her chest, with another yellow bat logo on her shoulder. Schmidt mentioned this is the hero unmasked, as Stephanie's blonde hair is styled in pig-tails.
