As fans wait for Stranger Things season 4, actor David Harbour reveals that he knows how the show will end, at least for his character. At the beginning of Stranger Things, the Duffer brothers announced that they had planned for the show to run for around four or five seasons. Still, there had been no official word on this until earlier this year when Netflix confirmed Stranger Things season 5 would be its very last on the streaming service.
The series centers on Eleven (played by Millie Bobby Brown), a young girl who was the subject of unethical human experimentation that gave her supernatural abilities. After escaping, she and her newfound friends investigate the paranormal secrets that wreak irreparable havoc on the small town of Hawkins, Indiana. In Stranger Things season 3, Eleven’s unlikely guardian Hopper (Harbour) seemingly died in a self-sacrificial move to protect the people he cares about. But that is not where his story ends. Stranger Things scattered clues hinting that Hopper may not be gone and later confirmed that he was still alive with a snowy shot of Russia, where he is currently imprisoned.

As Stranger Things’ season 4 release date creeps closer, Harbour tells Variety that he knows what’s in store for Hopper beyond the upcoming season. While he has no plans to spoil it, the actor found out in the early days of Stranger Things where Hopper’s story would eventually end up, helping him to better perform. Harbour doesn’t go into specifics but teases an emotional conclusion for Hopper.
