A new sci-fi story is coming from the mind of The X-Files' David Duchovny. The man who portrayed television's number one believer in extraterrestrial life has crafted a tale that envisions humanity as an invading alien force.
The X-Files featured Duchovny in the role of Fox Mulder, an FBI agent who specialized in tackling cases with paranormal implications. Though a firm believer in aliens and the supernatural, he was partnered with the more skeptical and grounded Dana Scully, portrayed by Gillian Anderson. The opposing beliefs of the partners drove many of The X-Files' «monster of the week» episodes when the two stumbled on mysteries with no obvious answer. However, it becomes clear in the series that alien life is indeed real and that there is a plot within the U.S. government to help prepare the Earth for colonization. Despite the largely antagonistic portrayal of aliens in The X-Files, it appears Duchovny is taking a different approach with his latest story.

Recently, Forbes revealed a first look at the graphic novel Kepler, written by Duchovny and illustrated by Phillip Sevy, who has previously worked on Tomb Raider and Triage. The story takes place on the fictional planet of Kepler, a world where other hominid species live on after homo sapiens have died out. Kepler finds itself threatened when a race known as the Bendaem returns to claim the planet for its own. While the story utilizes fictional races, Duchovny mentions he wants the series to posit some real questions on humanity's own nature.
