X-Files star David Duchovny says that he's still open to returning for another installment of the long-running sci-fi series. Duchovny originated the role of the conspiratorial-minded FBI Agent Fox «Spooky» Mulder in 1993. He starred alongside Gillian Anderson as Agent Dana Scully, his pragmatic partner and the skeptical foil to Duchovny's obsessive investigator. Together, the duo would explore inexplicable and seemingly paranormal mysteries that were deemed too bizarre for traditional detectives. The show had an initial run of nine seasons, concluding in 2001.

In addition to X-Files: Fear the Future, a 1998 movie that was released during the show's original run, the series also got a second movie in 2008 with X-Files: I Want to Believe. The show would get a short-lived spinoff in 2001 with The Lone Gunmen, a show that followed some of the core series' supporting characters/comic relief. And the series would see renewed life once again when The X-Files was rebooted as a six-episode limited series in 2016 that proved successful enough for FOX to order a season 11 in 2018. While no new projects set in the X-Files universe have been announced since, at least one of the stars is still showing interest.
