Warning! Spoilers ahead for Star Wars #22
While not his direct intention, Darth Maul's legacy ended up saving the Rebellion in Star Wars' original trilogy. Following the events of Empire Strikes Back, the Rebels become incredibly desperate after the fleet is scattered thanks to the Battle of Hoth. Princess Leia's only hope to keep the Rebellion going lies with Crimson Dawn, the crime syndicate first formed by Maul himself.
At the start of the Empire's rise to power and the fall of the Republic, former Sith Lord Darth Maul took what remained of his Shadow Collective and reforged it into the crime syndicate Crimson Dawn. Leading from the shadows, Maul eventually recruited Qi'ra to be his second-in-command following the events of Solo: A Star Wars Story. However, Maul always desired revenge against his chief rival Obi-Wan Kenobi as well as the master who rejected him in the prequel trilogy, the new Emperor Palpatine. While Maul died during his final duel with Kenobi on Tatooine in the years before A New Hope, Marvel's Star Wars comics have revealed that Qi'ra took over as the Dawn's new leader. Having learned much from Maul, Qi'ra reformed Crimson Dawn and made it even bigger than it ever was before, holding the singular mission of ending the Sith Lords once and for all.
