Amid fans demanding a Bloodborne remaster/remake for years, another FromSoftware title could be getting a glow-up. On The XboxEra Podcast, Nick Baker reported that a remaster of Dark Souls 3 is allegedly in the works. Though there is other information, Baker is “not allowed to pass that on.”
The news isn’t too surprising, considering that the original Dark Souls received a remaster in 2018, courtesy of QLOC. Dark Souls 3 launched in 2016 for Xbox One, PS4, and PC and hasn’t received any current-gen upgrades. It can run at 60 FPS on PS5 while upscaling from 1080p to 4K and 900p/60 FPS and Xbox Series X.
If a remaster is coming, it would be a way to introduce native 4K and higher frame rates for the title on current-gen platforms. Take things with a grain of salt for now, but it’s not outside the realm of possibility.
